Brief History
In 1981, Rev. Dr. Christiana Darko had a vision to start a christian school that educates the whole person for the glory of God. This led her to purchase preschool equipment from Mrs. Asafo-Adjei, a european married to a Ghanaian, who was closing down her daycare as she was relocating back to her home country. This equipment was kept in a warehouse in Darko Farms and Company Limited because Rev. Mrs. Darko did not get the permission from her husband, Rev. Dr. Kwabena Darko, to proceed.
Though the vision tarried, it finally came to pass in 1999 when Rev. Dr Kwabena Darko gave the permission for her to proceed with the school. This period of waiting was ordained by God because the Lord was preparing International Christian Education Mission's (ICEM) missionaries to be help with the establishment of the school.
Oasis Christian Academy (OCA) located in West Nhyiaeso a suburb of Kumasi, Ghana was established on August 7, 1999 by Rev. Dr. Christiana Darko (of Blessed Memory) with the assistance of American Education Missionaries, Loy and Caroline Kelly (of Blessed Memory) of International Christian Education Missions (ICEM) in Houston, TX. USA.
OCA was started as a preschool with 5 children and has grown to a K-12 school with a population of 450 students and counting. The school's initial location was a 2-Storey building donated by Rev. Dr. Kwabena Darko. Our current campus is on a 6-plot land donated by Rev. Dr. Kwabena Darko.
OCA is an American Christian School which seeks to set a standard in christian education in Ghana.
