Secondary (Grades 7 - 12)
OCA Middle School and High School Students focus on core subject skills that prepares them for college. They supplement these core subjects with practical elective courses.
Middle School (Grades 7- 8)
Middle school is a transition from Elementary to High school. Subjects taught are preparatory for rigorous high school work and students are expected to be more focused. There is an increase in extracurricular activities to help students build their social skills. Students work at a suitable pace balancing rigorous academic work with increased social awareness.
Middle School Course work consists of
- Bible
- Math
- English (Grammar, Composition, Literature, Vocabulary, Spelling & Poetry)
- Social Studies
- Science
- Music/Drama
- Physical Education
- Art.
Each 1st Semester, Middle School students are given the opportunity to take the PSAT/NMSQT reasoning skills assessment on campus. This assessment helps them to know which areas to better themselves on before they begin High school.
High School (Grades 9 -12)
The high school program is a liberal arts college preparatory program of study which focuses on core subject skills supplemented by practical electives.
High School coursework consists of
- Bible
- Social Studies
- Economics
- English (Grammar, Composition, Literature, Vocabulary & Spelling)
Also honors courses in
- Math
- Science
- Foreign Language
These give students a taste of the academic rigor they will meet in college.
Some elective courses are
- Business Math
- Consumer Math
- Family & Consumer Sciences
- Keyboarding and Document processing
- Coding and Robotics
- Mechanics
- Agricultural Science
Each 1st Semester of the school year, Freshmen (9th), Sophomores (10th) and Juniors (11th) are given the opportunity to take the PSAT/NMSQT reasoning skills assessment on campus. This assessment prepares them to take the National College Readiness Assessment of their choice. OCA students have a choice of taking the ACT or the SAT College readiness Assessments.
Over the years, 93% of OCA students have gone off to college and are in various fields of Medicine, ICT, Engineering, Education, Business & Finance, Ministry and the Arts.
Students who choose not to continue with their tertiary education and decide to enter into a carrier straight out of high school are equipped with the broad knowledge base and communication skills needed for success.
OCA's high school program leaves no one behind.
Twenty-four (24) Credits are required for High School graduation.
